It's Fall...Some where...

Well summer is over, sort of. The season has changed and so has our weather. We are finally getting our summer heat, oh well. It's the time of year that we hit the craft fair circuit. We did the relay for life and it was cool that someone was looking for our cards there. We just finished a special order and are now doing wedding invitations. I am also working on the wedding dress and guest book. Then we were asked back to a craft fair we did last year. We have had a few distractions from card making lately... new baby, extra hours at work, wedding plans. I have so many ideas in my head that I need to get on paper so I don't forget them. I just need a few more hours in a day, but then we all say that don't we? Another problem I am having is my craft space. I need to get it more organized and a little more private. I currently have it set up in one half of our family room with just a partition. There are just too many distractions out there, I may have to move it back into a room again.

I hope to post some more cards soon. We will see. But for now I hope you all have a great week. God Bless you all. Ruth

Life Is Good...

Oh my goodness, life is something else. It seems like there is always something going on around here. Well, the newest member to our family finally arrived. Born at 11:55 P.M. on July 31, 2010 at 8 lbs. 11 oz. Madelyne Julia. What a precious gift from heaven. Everyone kept telling me how wonderful it was to be a grandma, they were right. She is the most wonderful thing in the world right now. You forget how small they start out. I will post pictures later after I get permission from mom and dad. I need to get some new ones. I have the ones where she is just a few minutes old.
But for now life is good. God bless you all, have a great evening, Ruth

Here we go...

It's time to start another work week. I had my first weekend in ages where, I hate to admit it but, Saturday I wore my grubbies all day. It felt great!!!!!! I have not been able to do that in so long.
I started on the cards that were ordered at the relay for life event. I took pictures of some of the cards but have not downloaded them from my camera yet. I will try to do that some time this week as I will be working different hours all week.
Becky is still holding her own. We had dinner tonight with my hubbies niece and her kids and his nephew and his family and then Becky and Chad. I didn't get to talk to her much as I was way at the other end of the table. But she looked good. Three weeks left, if she goes to her due date. We will see.
Have a happy week everyone, God bless you all. Ruth

The time has come...

That's a famous quote from the old "I Love Lucy" show. I spoke to Becky this evening and she said her doctor told her that the baby is in the ready position. She just has three weeks until her due date but I don't think she will make it. I am so excited! She will be able to have the baby here in town, so that will be nice.
Also "Happy Birthday Chad"!
God bless and have a great evening, Ruth

It's Friday!!!!

Happy 4th of July weekend! This weekend is our traditional "Chad's Birthday" weekend. Weather permitting everyone comes over here and we eat, celebrate and swim. It's so funny, because most places of work are closed Monday in celebration of the 4th, but not us. We do child care. Several of our parents were surprised that we were open and said that their children probably would not be there. I had one prospective mother asked me if I was sure. I had to laugh at that as I am sure I would know if I got a day off or not. But anyway... we will be there. If nothing else we can get some cleaning done.
Did I mention that we had a wonderful response to our cards last weekend? I received an email update on the relay and it said that over all they brought in more than $100,000.00 for Cancer. I was so excited to hear that, as there were not as many people as there usually are.
I have been trying to catch up on replenishing our card supply. We had some requests for certain cards. We also have an order to fill.
I will post later one new card design I came up with the other day. I just haven't photographed it yet. Have a super weekend and God Bless America and all of you. Ruth

Ta Da....

I made it!!!! June is over. I finished my last activity for the month of June. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. We did our weekend "Relay for Life". It is such a job to get ready for it, you never know what the weather will be. Last year it was very cold and rainy. This year it was so windy we couldn't put up our tent until about 7:30. We forgot our tent stakes and we didn't have enough stuff to put inside to weigh it down. :) But we did have fun when we finally settled in. We hung out and cheered each other on as we did our laps around the track. My laps weren't until 2:30-3:30. I tried to get some rest at 7:30 but I had forgotten how much noisier things are inside of a tent. I would doze a little then someone or something would wake me up. I finally gave up at 12:30 this morning an just got up.

Becky and Chad doing laps, Alex and Kelly playing a game, Carol and Alex before the survivor lap (Alex was walking for Katie). Alex and Carol walking the survivor lap and friends forever. as you can see we had a good day, along day, but a good day. It is such a surreal thing to do. It helps you to remember how precious life is. I didn't get pictures of the luminaries this year. That is one of the reasons I like to do the after dark laps, I can walk in the peace and quiet and just enjoy the lights from the luminaries. I have time to myself to just think and take it all in. I am thankful for the ones in my life who have survived cancer and am thankful to have known the ones who did not.
We had the privilege to sell our cards "for the cure". It was cool this year, there was a couple who remembered us from last year and were looking for us. They bought some more of our cards. It really made us feel good. Well I hope everyone had a great Sunday. God Bless you all, Ruth

Baby shower

What a turn out! That is an understatement! I don't think I have ever been to any sort of shower that had that many people in attendance. There were so many presents and diapers. It took two large cars to get everything home. We want to thank one of Becky's best friends, Kristina. She was in charge of the games and prizes. She did a great job. Becky's sister and my daughter Katie was in charge of food. She did a wonderful job with that. We also want to thank Dawn for making the pasta salad. I was in charge of the decorations. I made five flower center pieces with "Oh Baby" on one side and "Girl" on the other side. I made forty nut cups with B A B Y on them. I also made a banner that said "IT'S A GIRL" I used the sweet treats, forever young, Mickey font, and some other cartridges I can't remember. All I know is I couldn't have done it without my Cricut! The picture of the gift table was taken early. That table had gifts all over it and around it. I think it took her over an hour and a half to open them all. It was quite a day. Now we just have one more event to prepare for. This weekend is our "relay for life". God Bless everyone and have a good evening.

One down...

Preschool graduation is over, we made it. Now the focus is on the baby shower. I only have to make the banner, finish the center pieces, order the cake, go buy the food and helium tank. Then Friday we have to start making the food. Saturday morning we have to pick up the cake and get to the church by 10:00 to start decorating and getting everything put together. Thank heavens we will have lots of help for that. We are all so excited for this baby to be born. It won't be long now.
Then the last weekend of the month we are going to be doing a "Relay for Life". That will be Saturday and Sunday. We are making cards to sell for the cause. We also have to put together a gift basket for a raffle. I am so far behind on getting cards made.
I can't wait for July. Hopefully, other than the baby, July should be pretty calm. Becky's doctor recommended that she start her leave a little sooner than she had planned. I can't wait for her to be off for a while. I will be posting some pictures of all these June events soon.
We hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday, God bless.

Oh me , Oh my...

Oh my, I just noticed I have been neglecting the blog again. I was hoping Becky would pick up some of the slack but alas, no. I have been trying to keep my head above water with work, the baby shower and more.
Each year I put together a video yearbook for my graduating preschoolers and their families as a gift. And each year this project gives me one problem after another. I thought I had it under control this year. The pictures were going in just right, I was having a little trouble with the music, but made due. I had all the titles in, the special effects, everything was going together too easy. Then it came time to burn it to the disks and that is where it all fell apart...my computer would not recognize the blank disks. AHHHHHHH!!!!!!! First I thought the disks might be too old or something then my son made a traveling song disk for my husband for his trip to Palm Springs for Memorial Day weekend. Of course it worked for him. So it must be my computer.
Plan two start over on another computer. If only they were both the same format but no. One is Vista and the other XP. So I could not take the save video and just move it to the other computer. The real bummer is the movie maker on the XP computer isn't as good. I can't do all the flashy sub-titles and special effects. I can only put one song on and it just plays over and over and over...boring. Also I can only put a title at the beginning and no where else. To say the least not my best work. :( But it is better than nothing I suppose. The children's pictures and activities are worth sharing in one form or another. The only ones who will see the difference are the families who have had older ones graduate with us. But even then they will still appreciate the work put in to them. It's just me. :)
I have to laugh, this is not what I wanted this blog to be but, hey. Some day when life slows down a little maybe we can get back on track. Right now I have a preschool graduation to over see, My son's play opens tomorrow night and goes for two weekends. Then the baby shower and the weekend after that we are doing a "relay for life" the last weekend of the month. So there is June in a nut shell.
Then we start July and so far we have only one small event happening...Just the birth of our first grand baby!:) Okay I am tired now, God bless everyone and have a great weekend.

Yeah it's finally Friday!!!!!!!

I would like to say the reason I haven't posted all week was because the week just flew by, but that would not be the truth. It was the longest week ever. I am so tired and have not had a chance to do any paper crafting at all this week. I am so looking forward for to this weekend. I am still on a quest to find a store that sells copic markers. I think I will try a scrapbook store that Becky and I found last month. I just hope I can remember where it is located. I will be working on the baby shower center pieces.
I also have to start working on stuff for our preschool graduation. I only have three weeks to put together a video yearbook. This is something I usually start months ago, wish me lucky, LOL. The sad thing is I am not sure I have enough pictures to fill a CD. This year has been crazy and has flown by so fast.
My 16 year old baby only has 1 full day of school left and three half days. Then he will be a junior in high school :(. In a short two months I will be a grandma. (that's a good thing) This year is already half over. Well on that high note I hope everyone has a great evening and God Bless.

Sunday...

What a nice weekend it was. I started my baby shower decorations, went to Michael's twice and spent less than $20.00. Bought a father's Day gift for my Hubby. I was on a quest for Copic markers but have pretty much given up for a while. I don't want to pay shipping and handling so will keep up the search. There is a scrapbook store near by that has everything I think I will look up their phone number and call them to see if they carry them.
I can't wait to finish the center pieces. Then I will post pictures here. I went to the movies and saw "Letter to Juliet" very cute movie. You should go see it. Have a good week and God Bless.

I also wanted to share these thank you cards for my son's teachers. Even though he is in high school, I feel like they have a much harder job. As I am a preschool teacher I get to see them when they are alive and ready to learn. A high school teacher has the job of keeping that spark alive and keeping them learning. My son has had the best year in school this year. We were talking on the way to school this morning and he said he couldn't believe the year was almost over.
I used the wild card cricut cartridge. I just learned how to use this cartridge and had a lot of fun making them. We bought gift cards to put inside. They were 3.5x3.5. They turned out super cute. I used our schools colors red, white and blue, Go Patriots! God Bless you all and have a great evening.

Card Challenge!!!

Okay here is my card for the My Pink Stamper card challenge. The challenge was to make a card, scrapbook page or anything using only the colors yellow, brown and green. I had already started a card using yellow and brown, if you read below you will know why. Anyway, so all I had to do was add some green, so I did. Now I will go over to My Pink Stamper and see if I can post the picture there. Wish me luck I am not too sure of these things yet, LOL. I knew I would do it wrong!!!! :(

The Day is Almost Done...

Yesterday we welcomed a new baby into the family. My nephew and his girlfriend had a baby girl. I hope I get to see her soon. Right now I am having sinus issues again :(. I hear from great-grandma that she is very cute. I was hoping for a picture on my cell phone today or maybe an email, but not yet. My mom says my nephew is a very proud papa. I am happy for them. My sister is a first time grandma as well. I will get my turn for that in July.
We worked on baby shower invitations on Saturday. I will have to remind Becky to take pictures then we will post them. It's funny, she told me what colors she wanted and then came over with completely different colors. I am glad I didn't have time to finish my sample. She is having a girl and bought a layette set with yellows, tans and butterflies on it. She said she wanted those things on the invites. Here she comes over with pink and brown. There WAS a butterfly on it, I'll give her that. If she reads this I will probably be in trouble.
I am in charge of decorations. I hope I do a good enough job. She says she's not, but she is very particular about things. Which can make a person a little nervous. I mean I don't want to ruin her day because she doesn't like something I have done. I want to do center pieces and banners.
We have gone from what ever to a little garden type theme. We are having it at our church and she wants to use these cute little glass plates we used for the Women's May Tea. It was very pretty. So far we are inviting 40 people and that's not counting all the ladies in the church who have watched her grow up, get married and now the baby. She was ten when we joined, she will be 33 in July.
Well I suppose I should get some stuff done. I have a dear friend getting ready to move back to Oklahoma at the end of the month. I will miss her very much. Thank heavens for the inter net and Facebook. I wish her all the best though she truly deserves it. God Bless you all and have a great evening.

Happy Mother's Day to all...

We just got home from my youngest sister's house. We had a Mother's day/ birthday celebration. It is also my middle sister's birthday. So we had lots to celebrate. My sister always does a great job putting these things together and she never asks for help.
I had a very nice Mother's day. I am feeling a little under the weather again, but that's okay. I received flowers and gift cards from one daughter with a very cute card. My other daughter gave me a very pretty card that she had made (to be posted later) and a gift card. My son brought home a carnation from the theater where he was working today and a hug. We went to church this morning and then went to do grocery shopping for work. I came home and took a nap before heading over to my sister's.
Life is good and all is well with the world. Who could ask for more? Happy Mother's Day to all. God Bless you all and have a great evening.

Something to Share...

Hi Everyone!! I know I haven't been as active on our blog as my mom has. April and May has turned out to be very social months for me. However that doesn't mean I haven't been incorporating my creativity in my events. I hosted a baby shower a few weeks ago and made these cute candy boxes with "B is for baby" tag to embellish them. Everyone thought they were very cute. Then earlier this week I hosted a bridal shower and made these candy bag holders inspired by a make 'n' take we did at a Stampin' Up club we used to be in. The "happily ever after" stamp was from a set called flexible fancy phrases and the background stamp is from a clear stamp set I found at Michaels (love that store..dangerous that there's one about a block away from my house).
Lastly, I made a Mother's Day card for my mother-in-law and wanted to share it. It's pretty simple but I thought it had sort of a vintage look about it that I know she will like.

Hopefully, everyone is doing well and keeping the creative bug alive. Please share some of your projects with us. We love to see everyone's ideas.
God Bless,
Becky and Ruth

Happy Wednesday!

Whoa, what a week so far. Monday started with me being asked to alter a monkey suit, a "Hairspray" costume and a jazzy vest. Then with my middle daughter, Katie's help we adjusted a couple of other costumes. Then my son, Alex, tried out for a spot in a local youth group performance of "The little Mermaid" AND was asked to run the spot light for another show at another theater. I had three days to alter the costumes, I am almost done. I was feeling like I was on "Project Runway".
Last week was my sons last week of golf on his high school team and he was worried that he would have anything to do after school. He will be busy for the next five weeks. But on top of all THIS, I get a call from his school nurse. He fell during PE and did something to his wrist. As I write this he and his dad are still down at our local children's hospital waiting to find out the extent of his injury and what they are going to do with his wrist. The fun just never ends around here. LOL
Becky is supposed to do a posting tonight and show off some of her handy work. I can't wait to see it. Well I have to get back to the sewing I need to finish making a couple of pink hair bows. Have a great evening, God bless.

Saturday, May 1, 2010

Well the day is done. I was not able to participate in any of the challenges on "My Pink Stamper". Of all the days to not have the whole house to myself and to have Becky not in the mood. She just isn't herself right now. This pregnancy thing just doesn't seem to be her cup of tea. She doesn't seem to be enjoying it the way I remember enjoying mine. Less than three more months to go.
Well I guess I will leave off with a quote from Dr. Seuss..."Today was good, Today was fun, Tomorrow is another one." God bless you all and have a wonderful evening.

Happy National Scrapbook Day!!!!!!

Today is National Scrapbook Day. I wish I could be part of it today, but different things in my life come first. I might, might, get to do something we'll see. My Pink stamper is planning a special day. She will be going live here in just a few minutes my time. The entries today may come in pieces as the day progresses.

Monday, April 26, 2010

Monday, Monday

I want to post something nice here tonight but am at a lose. I made it through the day, that is about all I can say. I didn't have a chance to do anything creative today, bummer. I was able to put together a few samples yesterday. I tried out a couple of things I saw on other people's Blogs, but theirs looked better.
Maybe I feel this way because two of my favorite bloggers are on a cruise and are not posting anything new for a whole week :(. I mean I am happy for them and all but... I NEED MY DAILY FIX! LOL.
I guess I will have to scope out some other blogs. I go to My Pink Stamper for my Cricut fix and these other two for my stamp fix. Then maybe the other thing that has me out of sorts is, it's National Scrapbook day on May first and I have too many plans to enjoy any of it. I want to go to the local Expo, just not alone. Bless his heart, my hubby said he would go with me, but that would be like me going to watch him play golf. No offence...BORING. It was a nice thought. I'll get over it. I hate it when I sound so, mean? so "poor me"? I don't know, sorry. That's why I didn't write anything last night. I sounded much worse, if you can imagine, LOL.
God Bless you all and have a wonderful evening.
