Ta Da....

I made it!!!! June is over. I finished my last activity for the month of June. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. We did our weekend "Relay for Life". It is such a job to get ready for it, you never know what the weather will be. Last year it was very cold and rainy. This year it was so windy we couldn't put up our tent until about 7:30. We forgot our tent stakes and we didn't have enough stuff to put inside to weigh it down. :) But we did have fun when we finally settled in. We hung out and cheered each other on as we did our laps around the track. My laps weren't until 2:30-3:30. I tried to get some rest at 7:30 but I had forgotten how much noisier things are inside of a tent. I would doze a little then someone or something would wake me up. I finally gave up at 12:30 this morning an just got up.

Becky and Chad doing laps, Alex and Kelly playing a game, Carol and Alex before the survivor lap (Alex was walking for Katie). Alex and Carol walking the survivor lap and friends forever. as you can see we had a good day, along day, but a good day. It is such a surreal thing to do. It helps you to remember how precious life is. I didn't get pictures of the luminaries this year. That is one of the reasons I like to do the after dark laps, I can walk in the peace and quiet and just enjoy the lights from the luminaries. I have time to myself to just think and take it all in. I am thankful for the ones in my life who have survived cancer and am thankful to have known the ones who did not.
We had the privilege to sell our cards "for the cure". It was cool this year, there was a couple who remembered us from last year and were looking for us. They bought some more of our cards. It really made us feel good. Well I hope everyone had a great Sunday. God Bless you all, Ruth

Baby shower

What a turn out! That is an understatement! I don't think I have ever been to any sort of shower that had that many people in attendance. There were so many presents and diapers. It took two large cars to get everything home. We want to thank one of Becky's best friends, Kristina. She was in charge of the games and prizes. She did a great job. Becky's sister and my daughter Katie was in charge of food. She did a wonderful job with that. We also want to thank Dawn for making the pasta salad. I was in charge of the decorations. I made five flower center pieces with "Oh Baby" on one side and "Girl" on the other side. I made forty nut cups with B A B Y on them. I also made a banner that said "IT'S A GIRL" I used the sweet treats, forever young, Mickey font, and some other cartridges I can't remember. All I know is I couldn't have done it without my Cricut! The picture of the gift table was taken early. That table had gifts all over it and around it. I think it took her over an hour and a half to open them all. It was quite a day. Now we just have one more event to prepare for. This weekend is our "relay for life". God Bless everyone and have a good evening.

One down...

Preschool graduation is over, we made it. Now the focus is on the baby shower. I only have to make the banner, finish the center pieces, order the cake, go buy the food and helium tank. Then Friday we have to start making the food. Saturday morning we have to pick up the cake and get to the church by 10:00 to start decorating and getting everything put together. Thank heavens we will have lots of help for that. We are all so excited for this baby to be born. It won't be long now.
Then the last weekend of the month we are going to be doing a "Relay for Life". That will be Saturday and Sunday. We are making cards to sell for the cause. We also have to put together a gift basket for a raffle. I am so far behind on getting cards made.
I can't wait for July. Hopefully, other than the baby, July should be pretty calm. Becky's doctor recommended that she start her leave a little sooner than she had planned. I can't wait for her to be off for a while. I will be posting some pictures of all these June events soon.
We hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday, God bless.

Oh me , Oh my...

Oh my, I just noticed I have been neglecting the blog again. I was hoping Becky would pick up some of the slack but alas, no. I have been trying to keep my head above water with work, the baby shower and more.
Each year I put together a video yearbook for my graduating preschoolers and their families as a gift. And each year this project gives me one problem after another. I thought I had it under control this year. The pictures were going in just right, I was having a little trouble with the music, but made due. I had all the titles in, the special effects, everything was going together too easy. Then it came time to burn it to the disks and that is where it all fell apart...my computer would not recognize the blank disks. AHHHHHHH!!!!!!! First I thought the disks might be too old or something then my son made a traveling song disk for my husband for his trip to Palm Springs for Memorial Day weekend. Of course it worked for him. So it must be my computer.
Plan two start over on another computer. If only they were both the same format but no. One is Vista and the other XP. So I could not take the save video and just move it to the other computer. The real bummer is the movie maker on the XP computer isn't as good. I can't do all the flashy sub-titles and special effects. I can only put one song on and it just plays over and over and over...boring. Also I can only put a title at the beginning and no where else. To say the least not my best work. :( But it is better than nothing I suppose. The children's pictures and activities are worth sharing in one form or another. The only ones who will see the difference are the families who have had older ones graduate with us. But even then they will still appreciate the work put in to them. It's just me. :)
I have to laugh, this is not what I wanted this blog to be but, hey. Some day when life slows down a little maybe we can get back on track. Right now I have a preschool graduation to over see, My son's play opens tomorrow night and goes for two weekends. Then the baby shower and the weekend after that we are doing a "relay for life" the last weekend of the month. So there is June in a nut shell.
Then we start July and so far we have only one small event happening...Just the birth of our first grand baby!:) Okay I am tired now, God bless everyone and have a great weekend.
